New sites of presence of guanaco (Lama guanicoe) in southern Buenos Aires province, Argentina: are they returning or we didn't detect them before?

The guanaco populations in Argentina suffered a drastic decline during the 20th century that began to revert in the last 30 years. Nevertheless, the province of Buenos Aires still has only small relictual populations in two protected areas in the southwest. We report two new possible areas of long-term presence of guanacos in the district of Patagones, located outside protected areas. These new areas contribute to raising the need for further exploration in the area, focusing on private farms, in order to favor the conservation of this species and the coexistence with livestock.
