A tale of three foxes… Lycalopex gymnocercus (Fischer, 1814), L. culpaeus (Molina, 1972) and Cerdocyon thous (Linnaeus, 1766) in La Rioja, Argentina, coincidence or sympatry?

This work presents the first record of a possible sympatric distribution of three species of foxes, the crab-eating fox (Cerdocyon thous), the Andean fox (Lycalopex culpaeus), and the Pampas fox (L. gymnocercus) which was obtained through the use of camera traps and direct observation in the Huaco Valley, province of La Rioja, Argentina. These records once again highlight the importance of conducting faunal surveys in poorly studied areas of Argentina.
